21strategies develops AI-based software for military tactical simulation and decision support in the defense sector. With our Defense Metaverse, we create synthetic operational environments in which tactical behavior, sensor technology, effectors, AI agents, and military decision-making processes are tested, evaluated, and further developed.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Senior Data Analyst who can elevate the analysis of our simulation, test, and sensor data to a professional level—with technical depth, analytical precision, and a clear interest in security and defense-related issues.

This position is not a traditional reporting or BI role. You will work with data from tactical simulations, AI agents, sensor systems, test environments, and physical demonstrators. The goal is to derive robust insights from complex scenarios: What happened in the scenario? And how do we make these insights comprehensible for development and users?

We are specifically looking for an experienced individual who can independently develop analytical approaches, structure data sources, define appropriate metrics, and explain results in a compelling manner.

Responsibilities

• You will develop sophisticated analyses of data from our Defense Metaverse, particularly from tactical simulations, agent behavior, situational awareness, tracks, event sequences, and decision-making processes.
• You will support the analysis of real-world data from physical sensors, tests, demonstrators, and field trials, and help make real measurement data comparable to synthetic simulation data.
• You will build analysis pipelines, dashboards, and reports that make tactical performance, AI behavior, system responses, detection quality, track quality, time series, sensor coverage, and decision-making logic visible and assessable.
• You develop metrics and evaluation logic for defense-related issues, such as response times, probabilities of success, robustness, situational awareness quality, collision risks, reconnaissance performance, threat assessment, or the effectiveness of protection and defense measures.
• You will work closely with software development, AI development, simulation engineering, military subject matter experts, and project management.
• You will prepare results in a way that makes them understandable, robust, and decision-relevant for both technical teams and military and industrial stakeholders.

Qualifications

• You have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in data analytics, data science, technical data analysis, sensor data analytics, simulation analytics, or a comparable technical analysis environment.
• You are proficient in Python, SQL, Pandas, Jupyter, or comparable analysis tools and can independently structure, clean, and evaluate even large, heterogeneous datasets.
• You have experience with complex technical data—such as time series, sensor data, tracking data, geodata, telemetry, simulation data, log data, or event data.
• You are able to independently derive an analytical concept, suitable metrics, a robust evaluation, and a clear presentation of results from a technical problem statement.
• You have a genuine interest in defense, the armed forces, security architectures, or military technology. This role requires that you wish to work in the context of the German Armed Forces, allied armed forces, and security-related applications.
• You have very good German language skills and good English language skills.
• You hold a valid work permit for Germany and are willing to work in Germany.
• You meet the personal requirements for a security clearance.
