Scope of Work
We are the Joint Data Center of the German Pension Insurance (DRV) with locations in Berlin and Würzburg. We ensure the secure and high-performance operation of the infrastructure, compliance with relevant legal standards, predictable costs, cost-effectiveness, and IT consulting. Our Data Center (RZ-DRV) is the nationwide service provider for the DRV’s IT infrastructure and supports its clients with customized IT solutions in the area of operating system and database infrastructure, ranging from consulting to IT operations. Our Server Transition team is responsible for providing the virtualization infrastructure as well as the automation platform for the installation and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

Your Responsibilities

Automation
-
To automate services in the data center, you will create a technical design based on overarching requirements

You will develop and configure data center services in the Aria Suite and ensure their quality

Further development of the virtualization platform based on cross-functional requirements: technical design, automation with Ansible, and testing in our own lab

You will create and maintain roles in the OS context using Ansible
-
You will document the results and communicate them to the operations teams
-
In doing so, you will work closely with colleagues from neighboring teams and on cross-functional IT projects

You will perform error analysis and handle troubleshooting as part of 2nd & 3rd-level support

You implement IT security measures in accordance with BSI guidelines and monitor compliance

We use the following products and tools, among others: Aria Suite, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), BMC Helix, GitLab, and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash

Due to the cross-location nature of the role, occasional business trips (2 to 5 times a year) between Berlin and Würzburg are required
Your Profile
-
You have a college degree (Bachelor’s/Diploma/FH) in IT, or an equivalent qualification, or a vocational training degree in IT combined with many years of relevant professional experience, or comparable long-term professional experience in the IT field

You also have current professional experience in the described area of responsibility

You know the processes and technical interrelationships in a data center inside and out

You have very good knowledge and experience in professional software development and hold your work to high quality standards

In addition, you are ideally familiar with ITIL-based working methods

You work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner—while always keeping service quality in mind

Your German language skills correspond to level B2; we would be happy to support you in further developing your language skills in the future

You are a true team player and enjoy proactively contributing to project work

You are willing to participate in occasional on-call duties, as well as to undertake occasional business trips, as described in the job description
