Scope of work
We are the Joint Data Center of the German Pension Insurance, located in Berlin and Würzburg. We ensure the secure and high-performance operation of the infrastructure, compliance with relevant legal standards, cost predictability, cost-effectiveness, and IT consulting. As a team of database experts, we form a central component of our IT architecture. We manage databases on various platforms for a wide range of our clients’ applications. Among other things, we play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing of pension and rehabilitation cases.
Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Expert, you will play a key role in the operation and further development of our database platform. Here, you will take on the following responsibilities:

Operation and further development of a large Microsoft SQL Server landscape (2019+)

Ensuring high availability, performance, and stability

Design and implementation of automation (e.g., using Ansible, PowerShell)

Management and optimization of deployments and operational processes

Definition of standards for installation, operation, and maintenance

Collaboration on and leadership of IT projects in the database environment

Advising internal stakeholders on architecture, performance, and security issues

Setting up and further developing test and lab environments
Your Profile
-
You have either a college degree (Bachelor’s/Diploma/FH) in STEM fields, a comparable IT qualification, or a vocational degree in IT with several years of practical experience, or several years of comparable practical experience in the IT field

Expert knowledge and several years of practical experience as a database administrator in the Microsoft SQL Server environment (2019+)

Very good knowledge of T-SQL, PowerShell, and the Windows Server operating system

Experience with high-availability solutions

You work in a structured, solution-oriented manner and enjoy strategic, conceptual work

Excellent communication skills (German at least B2 level) as well as a strong sense of responsibility and initiative

Ideally, you already have practical experience with automation using PowerShell or Ansible
-
Experience with large system landscapes or critical infrastructure is desirable
-
Knowledge of Active Directory, monitoring, performance tuning, or security is an advantage but not a requirement
