About our client
Our client is a fast-growing, private equity-backed software platform serving B2B service industries across Europe with € 170 M revenue and 1.000 FTEs. The group develops mission-critical software solutions that help customers digitize and optimize their core business processes, supporting a large and diverse customer base.
Backed by an operationally hands-on investor with extensive value-creation expertise, the business is pursuing an ambitious buy-and-build and scaling strategy and is seeking a hands-on CFO Germany to support the next phase of growth, integration and professionalization.
The CFO will work closely with an experienced leadership team with strong technology, operational and value-creation expertise, reporting directly to the Group CFO. The role is fully remote, based in Germany. What the job involves
Acting as the technical finance authority and trusted counterpart to the Group CFO and the German CEOs
Taking full ownership of accounting, controlling and financial reporting for the German entities
Responsible for all monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements under HGB - including notes and management report - independently and without external support, in a genuinely hands-on capacity
Contributing as a member of the German management team of the group's largest entity
Working confidently and hands-on with DATEV, safeguarding clean, structured and compliant accounting as the foundation for largely automated reporting and analytics
Strengthening accounting processes and controls from a position of direct technical expertise, driving data quality and accuracy across the finance function
Driving planning, budgeting and forecasting for the German entities together with the German CEOs, the Group CFO and the VP Accounting, Tax & Treasury
Supporting M&A activities from a finance perspective, including due diligence and the post-merger integration of acquired companies into group structures and reporting processes
Building, leading and developing a lean finance team while remaining personally anchored in the operational accounting
Coordinating with international finance colleagues, auditors, advisors and other external stakeholders to align structures and processes across entities
Operating in an entrepreneurial, results-oriented and collaborative environment, with occasional travel to company locations
Who we are looking for
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
Experienced finance leader with several years in a CFO, Finance Director or comparable role, with a demonstrated track record
Proven ability to independently prepare complete annual financial statements, including notes and management report
Strong, applied command of HGB, and audit processes
Solid tax expertise; a Steuerberater or Wirtschaftsprüfer qualification is a strong advantage
Skilled, hands-on experience with DATEV in day-to-day accounting is a must have
Willingness to take on the role of Geschäftsführer,
Experience leading a small accounting team and developing its technical capabilities while staying personally involved in the numbers
Experience in a SaaS or software environment as well as exposure to private equity-backed businesses and buy-and-build environments is a plus, but not essential
Exposure to multi-entity structures and M&A / PMI is advantageous
Down-to-earth, execution-oriented mindset, equally comfortable with high-level decision-making and hands-on tasks in a lean structure
Comfortable operating in a fully remote, results-oriented and collaborative finance culture
Excellent communication skills
