The opportunity

Copenhagen Energy is developing a growing portfolio of renewable energy and battery storage projects in Germany and across multiple European markets. As our portfolio expands and the regulatory landscape in Germany evolves from the old world of subsidies to more free markets with several new legislations, so does the need to understand where value is created, how projects should be structured, and how our assets can best participate in increasingly complex energy markets.

In this role, you will help analyze new opportunities, build financial and commercial models, evaluate market developments, and support decision-making across project development, investments, and trading activities. Working closely with colleagues across project development, trading, business development, and management, you will play a key role in transforming data, market insights, and commercial analysis into actionable business decisions.

• Commercial analysis: Support the assessment of new legislation and business opportunities, project investments, partnerships, and strategic initiatives across the company.
• Financial modelling: Build, maintain, and improve financial models used to evaluate renewable energy and battery storage projects.
• Trading and revenue analysis: Support commercial and trading-related analyses, including revenue forecasting, route-to-market assessments, offtake structures, market simulations, and evaluation of opportunities across power and ancillary service markets.
• Scenario and sensitivity analysis: Perform simulations, sensitivities, and scenario analyses to support commercial and investment decisions.
• Decision Support: Prepare presentations, business cases, and analytical materials for management and the project team.

• Analytically strong: You enjoy working with data, models, and structured problem-solving.
• Commercially Curious: You are interested in understanding how markets, investments, and business decisions work in practice.
• Analytical tools: You are comfortable working with Excel and large datasets, and bring experience with Python, VBA, MILP, or other analytical tools is an advantage but not a requirement.
• Structured and detail-oriented: You can manage multiple tasks and maintain close attention to detail.
• Education: You are currently enrolled or have finished in a bachelor's or master's degree within Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative study.
• Location: You will be based at our office in Kreuzberg, Berlin, for a minimum of 20 hours per week as a student role, or full-time role as an internship for at least four months.
