Wind Energy Acoustics Specialist (Onshore Wind)


Wind & Site Engineer – Sound / Acoustics

Location: Berlin, Germany


The Opportunity:

An established renewable energy developer is looking to strengthen its Wind & Site team with an experienced Sound/ Acoustics specialist. This is a key technical position supporting the development, permitting and optimisation of onshore wind projects, with responsibility for acoustic assessments across the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review noise calculations and acoustic assessments for onshore wind projects using WindPRO.
  • Support projects through the German permitting process, providing specialist input on noise requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret and apply relevant German noise regulations, standards and assessment methodologies.
  • Identify potential acoustic constraints during project development and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate noise-related issues arising on development, construction or operational wind sites.
  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate sound measurement campaigns where required.
  • Work closely with development, engineering, permitting and construction teams to integrate acoustic considerations into project decisions.
  • Review technical studies and reports produced by external consultants and specialist suppliers.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to wider Wind & Site topics including layout optimisation, site assessment and potentially energy yield.


Your Background

We are interested in speaking with candidates with approximately 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally gained within a renewable energy developer, engineering consultancy, OEM or specialist technical advisory environment.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge of wind turbine acoustics / environmental noise.
  • Hands-on experience conducting noise calculations in WindPRO.
  • A strong understanding of the methodology behind wind turbine noise assessments.
  • Knowledge of German noise regulation, permitting requirements and the associated technical framework.
  • Experience supporting noise assessments through wind project development and permitting.
  • The ability to investigate technical issues and turn findings into workable project solutions.
  • Experience with acoustic measurements and/or measurement campaign coordination.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The confidence to independently own technical workstreams and advise internal project teams.
  • Professional fluency in German and strong English communication skills.
