An international renewable energy developer and independent power producer is expanding its European portfolio and is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to provide high-level commercial and transactional legal support across its investment, development and financing activities.
This is a broad, commercially focused in-house role working closely with senior management, investment, finance and development teams across Europe.
The role
You will:

- Draft, review and negotiate SPAs, SHAs, JV agreements, development agreements and other complex corporate/commercial documentation
- Advise on project and corporate financing, including debt financing, refinancing, security packages and lender documentation
- Support capital markets, fundraising and wider corporate finance transactions
- Provide legal support across the full renewable energy lifecycle — from development and acquisition through financing, construction and operation
- Negotiate key project agreements including PPAs, EPC, O&M, equipment supply and development agreements
- Work alongside investment and development teams on due diligence, project structuring and transaction execution
- Advise on risk allocation, regulatory matters, corporate governance and contractual exposure
- Coordinate external counsel across multiple European jurisdictions
- Support the wider business on corporate, commercial and strategic legal matters
About you
You are likely to have:
- 10+ years' PQE, gained in a leading law firm, renewable energy company, infrastructure investor, IPP or similar environment
- Strong renewable energy sector experience, ideally across solar, BESS, wind or wider power infrastructure
- Significant M&A / corporate transactional experience within energy or infrastructure
- Experience with project finance, debt financing and/or capital markets transactions
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial and transactional agreements
- A strong understanding of the commercial structure and risks associated with renewable energy projects
- Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating local legal advisers
- A pragmatic, commercially minded approach, with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the credibility to advise senior management and investment teams
Why this role?
This would suit a senior renewable energy lawyer looking to move beyond a narrow project-contracts remit and work at the centre of M&A, investment, financing and strategic growth within a rapidly expanding international renewable energy business.
